=>「最近使ったドキュメントを、新しい GNOME ドキュメントツールで管理する肝となっています」
とした方が、意味的な曖昧性がなくなるかもしれません。
元訳では「最近使った」の主語が「ドキュメントツール」のように読めるためです。
あと、補足ですが、「the new GNOME documents tool」は、
GNOME Documentsのことを指していると思われます。
アプリケーション名の表記を揃える場合などのご参考までに。
